Heat Press Settings

These are recommended starting settings for a Topdeep 15×15 8-in-1 combo heat press or similar swing-away machine. Every press is a little different — use these as a starting point, then fine-tune with test prints.

Tip: Pre-press the shirt first to remove moisture and wrinkles. Use butcher paper or a PTFE sheet on top.

Tip: Wrap tightly with heat-resistant tape. Rotate the tumbler if your press does not spin. Let it cool before handling.

Tip: Use a mug press attachment. Wrap the design around the mug and secure with heat tape. The mug will be very hot — use gloves.

Tip: Hardboard is flat and rigid. Center the design, tape it down, and press firmly. Peel quickly while hot.

Tip: Use the hat press attachment. Lower temperature than shirts — the fabric is thinner and the area curves. Do not over-press.

Safety Reminder

  • The press surface gets extremely hot — never touch it directly.
  • Use heat-resistant gloves when handling hot mugs or tumblers.
  • Keep transfers still — sliding them causes ghosting and burns.
  • Always use butcher paper or PTFE sheet to protect the platen.
  • Unplug the press when you are done for the day.
